School Games: St.Anthony Kitale intensify preps, out to reclaim hockey title
St. Anthony
Kitale hockey head coach Kevin Lugalia says they have intensified their
preparations ahead of the upcoming school games.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Lugalia says he's been
impressed by his team's work rate in the tournament and friendly matches that
they have played and he believes they will be ready for the competition that
begins this month.
“I am really impressed by the team’s progress
so far, we have play a good number of friendly matches and you can see the hunger
in the team; they (players) are giving their all, there is healthy competition
in the team and that is very impressive for us,” said Lugalia.
St. Anthony have
twice lost the national title to their rivals Musingu High School in the last
two years and the head coach believes they have what it takes to reclaim the
gong.
“Musing are
doing really well at the moment, but our focus is to take one game at a time;
we have to move stage by stage; that is our aim, I believe we have what it
takes to reclaim the title but we won’t get carried away at the moment ,”added
Lugalia.
Despite his
team’s impressing him, he says they still need to improve more in their
striking department.
“Our defence is
doing great. All we need to work on is our attack. We need to kill off games
easily and that is where we are putting our effort on during training,” stated
the veteran tactician.
