School Games: Nervous wait for Musingu as they await appeal case outcome
Kakamega County Secondary Schools football champions
Musingu High are under the radar of the Quality Assurance and Standards
Officers for allegedly fielding ineligible players during the recently held
county school games
According to the Kakamega County Secondary Schools
Sports Association Chairman Lazarus Makokha, Musingu's case ruling will be made
in “the next 48 hours” after an aggrieved Kakamega High lodged an appeal
alleging the presence of Kisumu Day student in the Musingu team.
"There are allegations that Musingu fielded a
student purported to be schooling at Kisumu Day High but as we things are right
now, investigations are underway and when the ruling is out we shall openly
brief you accordingly and also give you the way forward.
For now, people should stop spreading rumours and
information that is not authentic, that is degrading some schools or teams from
schools yet we participated in the right manner and got worthy representatives
whom we believe we’ll fly the flag of Kakamega County high,”Makokha said.
Makokha has
however asserted that unless otherwise, Musingu High and the little known
Shamberere Boys will represent the county in the Western Region School Games.
"Our school games went well but many have been
asking who will represent the county because of that unconfirmed information.
As I speak now, the schools that will represent the
county in the Western Region Secondary School Games in football are champions
Musingu High and first runners up Shanderema High," added Makokha.
Kakamega High who appealed Musingu's progress finished
in fourth place after losing 2-0 to another surprise package Lugusi from Kabras
in a third-place play off at Bukhungu Stadium.
"Kakamega schools are the ones who launched the
appeal against Musingu which is under investigation. But for the rest is
hearsay and no one has come out to appeal against any other school in the
county meaning they are all satisfied,” Makokha concluded.
