School Games: Highway, Dagoretti set up final showdown in football
In an entertaining semis clash played at the Moi Girls High School, Humphrey Aroko opened the scoring in the 8th minute to give Highway a narrow heading to the break.
Caleb Kieni doubled Highway’s lead after the break scoring a sublime header from the corner kick before Aroko grabbed his brace and a third for the South-B based school.
Highway head coach Beldine Odemba who also doubles up as Harambee Starlets Under-18 head coach hailed her charges for their impressive shift.
“My boys put in an amazing performance. Leading 1-0 into the first half was enough to tell my boys to relax and seal the game. It was a good game against a worthy opponent.
We have to also work as a unit against Dagoretti as we did today to win. We know they’ll also be hunting for the title so we have to be at our best,” noted Odemba.
Highway who are the East Africa runners-up will now jostle for the title when they face Dagoretti in the finals on Tuesday. Dagoretti thumped Brown Hill 3-0 in another semis clash at Upper Hill School grounds.
In the girls category, football heavyweights Dagoretti Mixed who were the regions last year’s champions routed Kibra Girls 6-0 to book their ticket for Tuesday's final.
They will square it out with Olympic Girls who defeated Huruma Girls 4-3 in post-match penalties.
