Saleh gives up on NSL title, eyes top six finish

Speaking after the match that had been abandoned due to hailstorms, Saleh said chasing the NSL title remains a pipe dream since he is yet to settle on his first eleven.
“Our objective this season is to fight to finish among the top six in the league. The reason why I give most players an opportunity to prove themselves on the pitch as we build this team for a serious title battle next season,” he said.
He also rued the sluggishness of his charges that left Luanda Villa trailing 3K FC 1-0 before the game was stopped in the 63rd minutes because of heavy rainfall that pounded the area on Sunday.
“You never know how the game would have ended if it came to its desired conclusion on Sunday hence I cannot say the weather assisted us,” he added.
However, Saleh says his team created chances that would have helped them beat 3K FC, something he says he is looking forward to correcting before meeting Kibera Blackstars FC, who are in the NSL title race next Sunday.
“Missing a penalty kick yesterday and today is very regretful when our opponents who were playing a defensive game only capitalized on one counter attack to go on top of us. This left us torn in between fighting to level the score while chasing victory before our charged fans.”
“In fact, my players are yet to keep up with the fans' pressure at home. During away games the team looks more composed than at home,” he said.
Luanda Villa now has 31 points while 3K FC has 30 points after the early Monday rematch.
