Ruiru Sports Club to host NCBA Golf Series this weekend
The Ruiru Sports Club will on Saturday play host to
the 2024 NCBA Golf Series, marking the fourth installment of the Series
calendar that commenced in early March this year.
Over 200 golfers will converge on the par-72 course
with the first group set to tee-off starting as early as 7:00am. They will be
vying for coveted slots at the Series Grand Finale to be held later this year
at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
Ruiru Sports Club captain James Muraguri said: "We
are thrilled to host the NCBA Golf Series once again at Ruiru Golf Club. The
course is in impeccable condition, and we're looking forward to witnessing some
exceptional golfing talent on display. Our club members and the local community
are excited to be a part of this prestigious event," said Muraguri.
On his part, NCBA Group Managing Director said, “We
are thrilled to return to Ruiru for the second time since the inception of this
series in 2021. Witnessing the remarkable growth of the tournament, with an
ever-increasing participation, is a source of pride for all of us at NCBA.
Ruiru presents a challenging course, and we eagerly anticipate the test it will
provide this weekend. Our goal is to ensure a rewarding experience for our
stakeholders in Ruiru, as we have consistently delivered in our past events.”
The Ruiru leg follows the third leg of the series held
on April 6 at the Eldoret Sports Club where home player James Chirchir carded a
round of 41 points to claim victory in the Division One category, shrugging off
stiff competition from fellow club-mate James Komen whose final tally of 38
points secured him the runner-up position in the category.
In the Ladies category, Miriam Wanjiku, playing off
handicap of 12, clinched victory with a final score of 36 points. Coming in
second was Gracemary Karira, with an impressive score of 36 points.
In Division 2, Cheptoo Johana claimed victory in the
Men's category after scoring 36 points while Satwinder Sagoo emerged victorious
in the Ladies category, after returning an impressive 40 stableford points.
At the same time, Anita Cherop demonstrated
exceptional skills in Division 3, emerging triumphant with 33 Stableford points
while junior golfer Ryan Tolgos secured victory in the junior category after
