Kenyan striker Moses Shumah is rapidly turning the 2025/26 season
into a personal showcase of goals, grit, and growing maturity, making him one
of the most dependable attacking options for Kenya as the country builds toward
the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.
Now starring for Zambian giants Power Dynamos FC, the former
Kakamega Homeboyz forward has taken the MTN Super League by storm since his
July 2025 transfer. Shumah currently leads the league’s scoring charts with 12
goals, underlining his seamless transition from Kenyan football to one of
Southern Africa’s most competitive leagues.
His most recent statement performance came on March 8, when he
produced a sensational hat-trick in a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over fierce
rivals Zesco United. The derby heroics did more than secure three points. They
propelled him to the top of the Golden Boot race and further cemented his
reputation as a striker who thrives under pressure.
Shumah’s influence is not limited to domestic football. In
continental competition, he delivered two crucial goals against Uganda’s Vipers
SC during the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League. Those goals
helped Power Dynamos reach the group stage for the first time in five years,
highlighting his ability to perform on bigger stages.
Across all competitions this season, the Kenyan international has
scored 14 goals and played a central role in guiding Power Dynamos to a five
point lead at the top of the league table. His recent form has been especially
electric, with five goals in just two league matches in early March.
Shumah’s rise is also a continuation of the scoring instinct he
displayed back home after winning the Golden Boot in the FKF Premier League
with 17 goals last season.
Under the guidance of Coach Oswald Mutapa, Shumah is also refining
the less glamorous side of forward play. Mutapa has challenged him to increase
his pressing and movement in a lone striker system, a tactical evolution that
could turn him from a pure finisher into a complete modern forward.
For Benny McCarthy and the Harambee Stars technical bench, that
development is encouraging as Kenya gears up to co-host and featue at the Africa
Cup of Nations in 2027.
