Posta Rangers FC head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says they have a plan against league leaders Police FC when the two sides cross swords in Sunday’s league match.
According to 'Pamzo', the mailmen are well prepared to
overturn the first leg 3-2 loss to the gunmen; a feat that could jeopardize the
latter’s title prospects.
‘’We realised our mistakes in the first leg defeat and we
have worked on a strategy to overturn that outcome. Police FC are a good side,
but we have a secret weapon against them come Sunday,’’ said ‘Pamzo’.
The former Kenya international says his latest signings,
consisting of Musa Mohammed and goalkeeper Samwel Njau, both from Police FC,
added with his experience at his former employers – the law enforcers, puts his
side in good stead.
‘’I have coached Police FC before and I know them. Two of my
three mid-season signings, Musa and Njau are also from our opponent’s camp and
thus we have tips about their approach to league matches,’’ added Pamzo.
On January 15 2025,
Police carried the bragging rights after a 3-2 home victory against the
mailmen, and ‘Pamzo’ says he has worked on the errors that cost them the three
points.
In that match, Posta
were on target in the third minute of the match courtesy of a Shami Kibwana
strike but Police levelled the shoreline three minutes later through Brian
Musa.
Despite anticipating
a win, ‘Pamzo’ says he is aware Police are a very good side and especially
since they signed their Burundian coach Etienne Ndayiragije.
‘’We are not underrating the law enforcers, but what I am
saying is that we have a plan which we believe will work against them. They are
a very good side and we know our approach can work if we avoid some mistakes that
we have so far identified.”
The former Gor Mahia and Kenya international says they are
optimistic the team will finish among the top 10 come May 31, when the season
comes to an end.
After playing against Police FC, Rangers will face off with
Mathare United, AFC Leopards and Muranga Seal respectively.
They are perched 14th on the log with 25 points, 20 adrift of their Sunday opponents.
