Portugal fans thank Ronaldo after Euro 2016 rescue act

Portugal fans had mixed emotions following their entertaining 3-3 draw with Hungary in their final Group F clash of Euro 2016 which saw both teams qualify for the knockout stages.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice for Portugal to the delight of their fans but they still expressed their sadness at drawing all three group games.

“It was a great goal. And we are very happy because we are in the next phase of the competition. But I’m still a bit sad because we didn’t win today. I would’ve liked to have won at least one game,” a supporter said after the humdinger.

“Well Ronaldo is a very good player. He’s the best in the world. Now two goals and next game he’ll play for three goals. And we go in the final to win Euro 2016,” another Portugal fan added.

Meanwhile, Hungary finished top of Group F with 5 points which has left their support with real optimism that they can go even further in the tournament.

One fan admitted it was ‘the best dream’ to be in the round of last 16 as group winners.

“It was so much unexpected. The game was perfect. We scored probably the most goals in the whole tournament. So the team is fantastic, we love it.”

“We are the best in Europe no problem. We are the best team in Europe and we will beat all them and we will win the final.”

“It is unbelievable. It’s unbelievable that we won the whole table without any defeats. I think that’s the best dream we can think about,” Hungarian fans commented.

Hungary will face Belgium on Sunday whilst Portugal take on Croatia on Saturday.
