Kenya Police FC Board of Trustees Chairman Bishop Dr. Fred Akama is confident their women side Kenya Police Bullets will defend the Kenyan Women Premier League (FKF WPL) title this season.

The law enforcers opened a two points gap in the apex of the league following a 1-1 draw against Zetech Sparks on Wednesday at Zetech University grounds in Mang’u.

They lead the 12-team league table on 33 points, two above second placed Kibera Soccer Ladies while four time champions Vihiga Queens follow suit with 30 points.

Ulinzi Starlets and Bungoma Queens round up the top five with 27 and 25 points respectively.

“Our team is still strong and aligned and we are hopeful that they will defend the title. I’m happy that the new signed young players have gelled well with others and they will be instrumental in fuelling our quest to clinch the title.

“We are not only targeting the league but also continental tournaments and I believe if we maintain the focus and keep working hard we will achieve the dream.”

The Beldine Odemba coached side have so far registered nine wins, six draws and one loss.

In other results, Vihiga Queens handed newbies Trinity Starlets a 2-0 defeat at Moi Stadium in Kisumu as Mombasa Olympic fell 1-0 in the hands of Ulinzi Starlets at Makande Primary School.

Elsewhere at Bungoma National Polytechnic, Bungoma Queens registered a goalless draw against Kisped Queens while Kisumu All Starlets tormented Bunyore Starlets 3-1 at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
