Kenya Police FC Chief Executive Officer Chris Oguso has expressed confidence in the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership, stating that they are well-equipped to elevate the country’s football standards.

Speaking during his annual football tournament in Western Kenya, which serves as a platform to scout grassroots talent, Oguso highlighted the decline in football standards under the previous FKF administration led by Nick Mwendwa.

“We are very happy with this change in football leadership. You know, if you have been president for eight years, it is good that for the next few years we get different leadership. That is what has happened with Hussein Mohammed coming in with his fresh team. We have faith in him to bring about change,” said Oguso.

Oguso emphasized the importance of transparency and urged the new FKF leadership, led by Mohammed and his deputy, former footballer MacDonald Mariga, to meet the high expectations of football stakeholders.

“To be honest, we at Police FC were very tired of the former office. Now, we are very happy to see Hussein come in with his deputy Mariga, and we wish them all the best. People have high hopes for these leaders, but we are asking for transparency,” he added.

Oguso’s remarks reflect a broader optimism among stakeholders that the new FKF administration will address the challenges facing Kenyan football, including governance issues and the stagnation of grassroots development.

The annual tournament organized by Oguso continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to be scouted by top teams.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting the growth of football in Kenya and urged the new FKF team to prioritize grassroots development as part of their agenda.
