Police FC appoint Etienne Ndayiragije as head coach
The Burundian replaces Salim Babu, who was dismissed with the entire coaching staff following a string of poor results.
“In the presence of our Club Chairman, Mr. Nyale Munga, coach Etienne takes the reins to lead us into an exciting chapter of ambition and growth.
“Renowned for his expertise and winning mind-set, coach Etienne’s appointment signals our commitment to achieving excellence both on and off the pitch,” said Police on their social media platforms.
Ettiene has previously handled the Tanzanian national team, Vital' O FC in Burundi, Azam FC in the Tanzanian league as well as Rwandan outfit Bugesera FC.
He will be tasked with steering the club out of the FKF-Premier League relegation zone amid a torrid season that has seen the law enforcers lose five matches, with just one win and a draw in the current campaign.
They are languishing 17th on eight points level with the bottom placed Posta Rangers after seven rounds, a tough start to the season just a few months after featuring in the continental football.
They held leaders KCB to one-all draw last Tuesday and they will be keen to end the four match winless run when they play another league strugglers AFC Leopards at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.
Following the dismissal of Babu, women's team head coach Beldine Odemba was then handed the team on an interim basis.
Sofapaka FC and former Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano was also a front runner in the race to fill Babu’s position.
