Police eye top spot in FKF PL, Gor face tricky Sofapaka
The Law Enforcers’ stellar form continued last weekend as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Murang’a Seal and have registered seven wins and a draw in their past eight matches, losing only one of the nine games head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has overseen.
A win on Wednesday will see them go top on goal difference, level on points (33) with current leaders Tusker FC.
Visiting Bandari, who have gone six consecutive matches without a win, aim to snap the slump that has seen the Coastal-based side drop out of the chasing pack to seventh in the league standings on 23 points.
Head coach Ken Odhiambo has blamed his blunt attack for the team’s recent woes, adding they were in the market for a new striker.
"We just need a striker—someone who can score goals, whether short or tall, as long as they can find the back of the net. Our biggest problem is scoring,” he explained. “Everyone will focus on the scoreline, not how we played," he said.
Later at the same venue, Gor Mahia will look to end their blip when they face an in-form Sofapaka in a six-pointer clash from 4PM.
Tusker FC hot shot Ryan Ogam, the current league top scorer, scored a double including a dramatic stoppage-time strike to down Gor Mahia 2-1.
The defeat left Gor in fourth place with 24 points from 15 matches, nine points behind Tusker.
A win for K’Ogalo, who have played two fewer matches, will see them cement their fourth place, six points behind the Brewers. But a defeat will see Sofapaka, who are level on 24 points, surge into the top four.
In another midweek fixture, AFC Leopards confront KCB in Murang'a from 4pm.
Blowing hot and cold, Leopards lie eighth in the league standings on 22 points, level with Murang’a Seal who have an inferior goal difference.
