Kenya Police Bullets deputy coach Lawrence Suji believes
they are capable of retaining the Kenyan Women Premier League title.
The law enforcers pulled a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Starlets
last Saturday at the Ruaraka Grounds to continue maintain leading of the log on
29 points, one ahead of second-placed Kibera Soccer Women as Vihiga Queens,
Ulinzi Starlets and Bungoma Queens occupy third to fifth positions
respectively.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, Suji said his charges dragged themselves in the first half compared
to the second half, which denied them victory.
“Being an away match, we knew it wasn’t a walk in the park.
I want to thank my players for the good fight and I believe we shall rise again
in next fixture. I noted that my charges were slow in the first half compared
to the second half something which cost us the win.”
On the other hand, Ulinzi head coach Oduor was hapy with the
outcome but is looking forward to more matches.
“It was my first time in my career to play Kenya Police. I
feel we were under pressure being that it was a derby but we have learnt from
our mistakes and I expect to do well in next fixtures. I also want to
congratulate my striker Fasila Adhiambo for giving us a consolation goal. The
goal she scored was replicated from our Friday training and being that she is a
disciplined and hardworking player, I have no doubt that she will be
instrumental in our quest to clinch the title.”
On her part Fasila Adhiambo feels that there is much to be
done in the squad.
“A draw is a win for us because we have never defeated
Police. I feel we need to solidify our defence. I noted that there were many
mistakes in clearing the ball. We also need to work on our midfield department
which appeared to be a bit shaky,” she asserted.
