Police are lucky to be within touch of FKF-PL title, says Imbenzi

The law enforcers are only a win away from being declared new Champions, and could assure themselves of their maiden Premier League title Monday evening (EAT) should rivals Gor Mahia lose to AFC Leopards.

While Police have fought hard under three coaches this season to stay at the top, Imbenzi feels lady luck has been on their side.  

According to Imbenzi, the league has been very open and anybody among the top teams would have lifted the title which looks like it will go to the wire

“I had said this sometime earlier five matches to the finish line that this league has been very open and indeed as you realise it has gone up to the wire. This is because of the stiff competition witnessed among the top teams that have been in the battle for the title."

Imbenzi says that Police have also been able to stay top of the log for a very long time because of the inconsistencies of their competitors, with Homeboyz starting off the season poorly before deciding to fire their head coach Ken Kenyatta, replacing him with Francis Barasa in the second half of the campaign.

“Barasa has been so good and since joining the team I want to say that even Police FC couldn’t manage even a point from Mumias Sports Complex thanks to the 2-1 win our boys registered on May 14.

"They tested us and I am convinced that they know who we are,” Imbenzi said.

Homeboyz trail Police by seven points in fourth and Imbenzi is keen to see them finishing strong by winning their two remaining matches against Bidco united and Tusker

“The two remaining matches we will be playing are Bidco United and Tusker and we have a clear target to win all of them and finish in the best position possible.

"We know Bidco are fighting to avoid relegation and we will be very ready for them”, Imbenzi concluded.
