Parklands give up on KHU survival fight

Parklands Hockey Club head coach Victor Bogonko has given up on their Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) survival chances, admitting that relegation is no longer his biggest worry.

Parklands lost 2-0 to champions Butali Sugar Warriors on Saturday at City in the latest defeat that left them rooted at the bottom of the 10-team KHU Men’s Premier League standings.

“We came all the way from the national league to premier league and yes we have been relegated before but we came out strong. So being relegated is not a setback for us because basically for sure we will come back next season,” Bongonko said.

Goals from Nathan Munyole and Derrick Kuloba delivered Butali’s 14th victory of the season and kept their 17-match unbeaten streak intact.

Butali coach Denis Owaka hailed his team saying the only thing remaining is to work on their penalty corners as they prepare to wrap up the season with an unbeaten record.

Parklands will next face off with Strathmore University as Butali take on Green Sharks on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
