Paris 2024 Olympic Games preps on course, says CS Namwamba

Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has
reaffirmed that the nation's preparations for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics
are proceeding without hindrance.
Addressing
attendees at the unveiling of the competition's management committee at Talanta Plaza in Nairobi, Namwamba
articulated that the Olympics serve as a pivotal platform for Kenya to showcase
its unparalleled excellence on the global stage.
With
unwavering conviction, he expressed his firm belief that these forthcoming
games will mark Kenya's most extraordinary Olympic endeavor yet.
“We
believe this will be the best Olympic Kenya has ever had.
“We will
also be using it to market our country’s tourism sector because the whole world
will be watching'', a jubilant Namwamba said.
In a
significant revelation, Namwamba elucidated that the Ministry had successfully
brokered an agreement with the Kenya Revenue Authority, aimed at sparing
athletes and sports professionals the burden of dual taxation on their earnings
garnered from international competition.
''We
have arrived at an agreement with the Kenya revenue authority that, from now on,
our sports people will not be subjected to double taxation of their earnings.
“Now,
our sports men and women can have a bigger share of their fortune,'' Namwamba
added.
In a
momentous announcement, the Cabinet Secretary also revealed the distinguished
members of Team Kenya's Olympics and Paralympics Games Committee.
This
esteemed panel features luminaries such as retired Major Jackson Tuwei and the
legendary Paul Tergat, alongside other notable figures.
Notably,
James Waindi, president of the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya, has
been appointed as the Media Liaison Officer, ensuring seamless communication
and dissemination of information throughout this monumental journey.
