Onyala, Tanga back in Shujaa squad ahead of Perth 7s

Kenya Sevens head coach Kevin Wambua has made two changes to his Shujaa squad with experienced former co-captain Vincent Onyala and Kabras Sugar’s playmaker Brian Tanga returning to the fold.

Onyala had stepped away from the national team after failed contractual agreement with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) but has made a welcome comeback as the team prepares to head to Perth for their third tournament of the season

Onyala’s return follows Tony Omondi’s call back to the national team after both boycotted the opening leg in Dubai.

George Ooro and Samuel Asati will continue to lead the team as co-captains with speedster Patrick Odongo expected to bring the attacking threat to the young Shujaa team.

Kevin Wekesa, Denis Abukuse, Festus Shiasi and Floyd Wabwire make the cut with William Mwanji and Ben Salem maintaining their slots in the national set up.

Shujaa are pooled against heavyweights Fiji, New Zealand and Uruguay for the Perth 7s.
