Gor Mahia inched closer to bagging Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title after downing Shabana FC 1-0 at Mamboleo Grounds Stadium in Kisumu.

Striker Benson Omalla netted the lone goal that separated the two sides in the 34th minute of the opening half.

In second half, little unfolded worth taking down as Shabana played a tight one not to concede anymore goals while pushing upfront to try their luck.

The win means K’Ogalo have extended the lead at the top of KPL table to 63 points, 12 ahead of second place Police FC.

While on the other hand, the defeat leaves Shabana at a danger zone down the table – tied with Sofapka on 28 points placing the Kisii based team just one place above relegation zone.

With eyes on the golden boot, Omalla now takes his goals tally to 15, followed closed by Police FC striker Tito Okello who also has 13 goals so far – the golden boot race is for sure a tight one with just five matches to go.

Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks hammered Sofapaka 5-2 in a goals flooded match that saw Sharks maintain 10th place on the log as Sofapaka remain below the red line.

In other matches, Ulinzi Stars had to settle for a point against Muhoroni Youth after barren draw.

KCB too picked a point against Nzoia Sugar in a 1-1 draw contest that saw The Bankers remain at 11th place while Nzoia maintained their last place on the log.
