Olympics-bound Kenyan athletes to undergo three out-of-competition tests before July
As per AIU, all athletes planning to take part in the Olympics, are required to undergo at least three testing tests before July 4 with the first one happening before May 3.
“As per rule 15 requirements for Category A federations, all athletes hoping and planning to compete at the Olympics will be required to undergo at least out of competition testing.
“Furthermore, in accordance with Rule 15.5.1(c), all athletes will be required to undertake their first out of competition testing at least 12 weeks before the opening ceremony of the Olympics on 26th July,” read part of Athletics Kenya statement.
Subsequently, Athletics Kenya has pledged to strictly comply with the AIU's directive calling upon the athletes to keenly adhere to the additional requirements to avoid being locked out of the Paris fiesta.
“AK advises all athletes to familiarise themselves with these additional requirements and subsequently adhere to it to avoid last-minute disappointments.”
The three no-notice out-of-competition testing will be conducted under the Authority of Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya(ADAK) and recorded in the Anti-Doping Administration Management Systems (ADAMS).
