KCB RFC Head coach Curtis Olago has said his team will not take anything to chance when his side takes on Kabras Sugar on Saturday in a Kenya Cup fixture at the Kakamega Showground.

The bankers will battle it out for bragging rights with their arch-rivals following match day ten results which saw second-placed KCB suffer their first loss of the regular season in the hands of Menengai Oilers.

A bonus win for the Thika-Road side under the tutelage of gaffer Curtis Olago will not be enough to secure the top position as the playoffs edges closer. As it stands, KCB is perched second on 44 points.

“Kabras have been imperious throughout the season, and they always bring out the best in us. We need to work on our errors against the Oilers to ensure that we play well against the Kakamega side. We must tick all our boxes going into the weekend’s clash,” noted Olago.

In a notable change, captain Griffin Musila will start from the bench for the first time this season, expected to provide a burst of energy in the later stages of the game. James Ochieng will fill in at hooker, while Oscar Simiyu and Wilhite Mususi retain their positions as props.

With Davis Chenge unavailable, Emmanuel Silungi steps in to partner with the impressive youngster Andy Cole Omollo in the second row. Kolian Persian takes over the number eight position following Steve Wamai absence, with Peter Waitere and Felix Ojow slotting in as flankers.

Experienced Michael Wanjala gets the nod at scrumhalf, replacing Emmanuel Opondo, while Brian Wahinya retains the role of fly-half. In the midfield, Bob Muhati and Trevor Odawa form a partnership once again, while Darwin Mukidza returns to the back three alongside Festus Shiasi and Elphas Adunga, with Lionel Ajeliti making way.

The bankers cannot surpass Kabras in the standings due to the six-point gap between the two teams.

Nonetheless, they will be vying for bragging rights, aiming to improve their recent record against Kabras, having only secured two wins in their last five encounters.
