Ogidi withdraws from race to succeed Ocholla as Gor SG

Gor Mahia FC Secretary General candidate Joseph
Ogidi on Friday shockingly withdrew from the race - only two days to the eagerly
awaited election.
In a press release sent to newsrooms, Ogidi, a renowned radio presenter, cited circumstances beyond his control amid three court cases challenging the electoral process.
"I Joseph Ogidi, wish to officially announce my
withdrawal from the race for the position of Secretary General at Gor Mahia
Football Club. This decision has not been made lightly. Due to circumstances
beyond my control, I find it necessary to step aside at this time.
"Out of respect for the ongoing electoral process
and in full adherence to the court directive regarding the scheduled elections,
I will refrain from providing detailed commentary on the reasons behind my withdrawal
until after the election period has concluded," read part of the press release.
He also hinted that the process lacks
transparency, an element he was not comfortable with.
"My commitment to Gor Mahia Football Club and
its loyal supporters remains steadfast. I believe in the importance of unity,
transparency, and integrity in leadership and it is in that spirit that I have chosen
not to allow my personal circumstances to become a distraction to this crucial
process," noted Ogidi.
"I extend my gratitude to all who supported
my candidacy and shared in the vision I presented for a stronger, more
accountable club. I remain a dedicated supporter of Gor Mahia and will continue
to serve the club in whatever capacity I can moving forward," he added.
