Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has urged his players to be clinical in front of goal if they intend to achieve their top-four target in the FKF Premier League.
The Dockers ended a four-match winless run following a 2-1 win over Ulinzi Stars last weekend, and Odhiambo is rallying his players to take full advantage of the numerous goal-scoring opportunities they are creating.
They face sixth-placed Shabana FC away on Sunday in a six-pointer clash with only one point separating the two sides.
“I want my players to focus on making the most of the chances we get. If we can be more clinical in front of goal, we will definitely improve our results.”
“We must see a different Bandari because we are going to a hostile ground with so many fans. But its good for us to have a good play, and normally you don't enjoy going to an empty dancefloor, you need many people to enjoy the music,” he added.
Odhiambo also addressed the mental preparation required for the upcoming fixture, as Shabana FC is known for having a passionate fan base and a competitive edge, especially when playing at home.
He says his strategy will be to keep his players composed and focused, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle the pressure of an away match.
Bandari’s one player who has been in fine form this season is Beja Nyamawi, with 11 goals under his belt in the top tier league and is currently ranked third in the scoring charts, behind Tusker’s Ryan Ogam (15) and Moses Shumah of Kakamega Homeboyz (12).
“Beja has been outstanding this season. He has the ability to score even more, which is why we've positioned him on the wing where his sharpness shines. I'm confident he'll score more goals before the season ends,” said Odhiambo.
Bandari face Shabana, who have had a mixed bag of results in their last five matches, winning two matches against Kakamega Homeboyz and Murang'a Seal, and three draws.
With Bandari currently in seventh place on 36 points, just one point behind Shabana FC in sixth, the match is an important opportunity for both teams to solidify their positions in the middle of the league table.
Bandari will be eager to maintain their unbeaten streak against Shabana in KPL, having played three times so far, securing two victories and drawing once in the first leg of this season.
