Odhiambo backs Bandari to bounce back from underwhelming season

Bandari FC players celebrate a goal against Rashid Abdalla Super Cup select team at Waa Primary School.
Bandari FC head coach
Ken Odhiambo will use the final two matches of the 2024–2025 Kenya Premier
League (KPL) season as preparation for the next season.
Speaking exclusively to
Citizen Digital a day after a goalless draw against AFC Leopards, Odhiambo said
he intends to test players in unfamiliar positions to assess their versatility
and readiness ahead of the new season.
“To be honest, this is
like our pre-season. Since we can’t win the league, we’re trying out different
players in different roles to fully understand their capabilities.
“By the time we begin
serious pre-season training, we’ll have a clear picture of the entire squad’s
strengths.”
The Dockers, as Bandari FC are popularly known, have had an inconsistent run this season.
Over their
last five games, they've recorded only one win, one draw, and suffered a single
loss against Police FC.
“I can't say we've had a
good season, especially in the second leg. We dropped too many easy points that
we should have secured.
“But we have an
opportunity to turn things around next season, and it all begins with proper
preparation,” added Odhiambo.
So far, Bandari have
registered 10 wins, 12 draws, and 10 losses in their 32 matches this season.
Despite the mixed
results, the team boasts one of the league’s top scorers—Beja Nyamawi—who
currently sits fourth in the Golden Boot race with 12 goals, just five behind
leader Moses Shumah of Kakamega Homeboyz.
Bandari FC are currently
in 8th place on the KPL table with 42 points from 32 matches.
