Ochieng’ hails Strathmore Blades’ efforts despite loss to Nairobi City Thunder
Despite losing to defending champions Nairobi City Thunder
last weekend, Strathmore Blades head coach Tony Ochieng has hailed his charges
for their exemplary performances.
Ochieng believed his boys gave their best even as they lost
48-88 to the national champions in the Kenya National Basketball men’s premier
league match.
“We gave our best, the players tried their best, and moving
forward we now need to win the remaining matches. We had some good plays,
especially on the matchups; we did well on rebounds and attack, as we made 80%
of our execution in the second quarter. The team is geared and getting
prepared for the next game,” Ochieng said.
“We let in lots of three-point shots, especially in
the first quarter where the scores were not good on our side from the three
points as they made six out seven which disoriented us.
One of the major challenges for my team was fitness as the
whole week we had bad weather which affected our training schedules and that
game was used as our training session,” Ochieng added.
As a way of preparing for the next assignment, the tactician
has planned some friendly matches for his team during the week.
“I intend to have probably two-midweek friendly matches for
the team and see where to correct and I believe by the weekend, we shall have made
an impact on how we play,” Ochieng said.
Blades have nine points from seven games played so far,
winning two and losing five.
