Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nzoia head coach Charles Odero revealed that the team has been sharpening its form ahead of the match through competitive build-up games to ensure peak performance.
The tactician confirmed that his squad has played against St. Antony Kitale High School and Kiminini Combined FC, using the matches to assess player fitness, tactical formations, and overall team chemistry.
Following the departure of several key players, Nzoia Sugar FC has undergone a squad overhaul, bringing in young talents to fill the gaps. Odero expressed confidence in the new signings, stating that they have settled in well and are making steady progress in training.
“The departure of many players forced us to rebuild, and we have now integrated young players into the squad. They are adapting well, and we are pleased with their development,” said Odero.
With the fresh recruits gaining momentum, Nzoia Sugar FC hopes to put up a strong fight against Naivas FC as they seek a positive result in their NSL campaign.
“The new signings have been sourced locally because we currently lack the financial muscle to bring in experienced players, but I have faith in them after seeing their commitment in training,” he added.
Nzoia Sugar FC is determined to make an impact in the NSL, with ambitions of securing a return to the country's top-tier league following last season's relegation.
The two sides are tied on 29 points, with Nzoia sitting in eighth place while Naivas occupies ninth ahead of their crucial clash.
