Nzoia Sugar coach Charles Odero urges greater support amid financial challenges
Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Charles Odero has called for increased motivation and support for his players to sustain and enhance their performance in the Nzoia Sugar FC.
Speaking to Citizen Digital after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Naivas FC at Sudi Stadium on Saturday, Odero praised his team’s resilience despite enduring severe financial struggles, with most players going unpaid for the past four months.
"The boys have shown incredible spirit and focus, but at this point, they need motivation to push forward," he said, acknowledging their determination under challenging conditions.
The win over Naivas FC marked a crucial moment for the Bungoma-based club, propelling them to 14th place on the NSL table with 11 points from nine matches.
Odero commended his players for their disciplined performance and tactical execution in securing the vital three points.
“This win is a testament to the hard work and unity within the team. Beating a competitive side like Naivas wasn’t easy, but the players delivered,” he noted.
Despite the victory, financial challenges continue to overshadow the team’s progress. Odero appealed to stakeholders and potential sponsors to provide much-needed support to keep the club on track and maintain player morale.
“The team has shown great potential, but we need help to sustain this momentum,” Odero emphasized.
