Nzoia hold trials ahead of new season after mass player exits
Nzoia Sugar
have held trials to select new players for recruitment after suffering a mini
exodus on its current roster during the close season.
Club
Chairman Yapets Mokua says they have identified players with good qualities at
the trials and they will join the team.
“We have
conducted trials and I must say we have identified players with good qualities
and they will join the team to fill the gaps left by departed players,” Mokua
told Citizen Digital.
Financial
instability at the club has seen the team lose several players in the aftermath
of the 2022/23 FKF Premier League season where they managed a decent fourth
place finish.
Meanwhile,
Mokua says they will unveil the new coach to replace former head coach Salim
Babu by weekend.
Mokua said
they received over twenty applications and the selection process is almost
complete.
Immediate
former Nzoia head coach Salim Babu left the team to take on a lesser role at
Kenya Police as an assistant coach to enable him undertake his CAF ‘B’ coaching
course.
“We received
over twenty applications and I must say the selection process is almost
complete, we are racing against time and probably by the weekend we shall
unveil the new coach to lead the team.”
