Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu remains optimistic about reclaiming the FKF Women’s Premier League title, provided his side wins their remaining two matches against Kenya Police Bullets and Kisped Queens.

Despite a 4-2 victory over relegation-threatened Kisumu All Starlets on Wednesday, the four-time champions stayed fourth on the log with 37 points.

League leaders Kenya Police Bullets opened up a three-point gap at the top after edging Bungoma Queens 1-0 at the Bungoma National Polytechnic.

Ulinzi Starlets sit second with 39 points following a narrow 1-0 midweek win over Kibera Soccer Ladies at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. Kibera, who dropped to third, are now on 38 points.

“Mathematically, if we manage to win the remaining two matches and our rivals drop points, we still have a chance to win the league,” Nyamunyamu said.

“I’m urging my players to keep pushing hard so we can restore our lost glory. The gap between 42 and 37 points isn’t that big; if the teams ahead of us falter, it could work in our favour.”

He added, “I want my girls to stay focused and go all out in the final two matches. I believe if we do that, we can revive our former dominance. I’ve also identified a few areas that need strengthening ahead of next season, and we plan to bring in new players, but that will be addressed once the season concludes.”

The league now takes a two-week break to allow for the FKF Cup draw.
