NSL: Nzoia coach Odero blames poor officiating in 3K’s draw
Odero accused the match referee of adding over ten minutes of extra time, which he claims handed the hosts an unfair opportunity to net a last-minute equalizer.
Speaking to Citizen Digital after the match, Odero did not hold back his disappointment.
“This is not the first time we are seeing such questionable decisions on the pitch. Adding over 10 minutes was unnecessary and cost us the win,” he remarked.
The draw left Nzoia Sugar FC languishing in the lower half of the NSL standings, putting more pressure on the team to regain form.
While Odero was critical of the officiating, he also admitted that Nzoia Sugar FC has struggled to deliver results at home this season.
A series of losses on home soil has contributed to their current position on the table, making it difficult to mount a consistent challenge for promotion.
"Our performance at home has not been up to standard, and as much as we can talk about officiating, we must also take responsibility for our shortcomings," he lamented.
However, looking ahead, Odero assured fans that the club is determined to turn the tide in the coming year.
His comments also add to growing criticism about the standard of officiating in the second-tier league as clubs have frequently raised concerns over questionable decisions that they argue affect the integrity of the game.
