Mombasa Stars Sunday afternoon registered a 3-2 win against impressive Kisumu All Stars in a National Super League (NSL) fixture at the Mbaraki Stadium, Mombasa.

The home side twice trailed the visitors, but fought hard to win the game through goals from Mwaranjira Abdulamin and a brace from striker Joel Kihara.

Kisumu All Stars scored through Michael Karamor and Arnold Akodhe.

Kisumu dominance in first 35 minutes paid off and got the opener through Akodhe who headed home Chrispine Ochieng’s well floated cross into the box.

Mombasa Stars soaked the pressure mounted by Kisumu especially after the opening goal, but lacked precision in their striking force. Joel Kihara and Mwanzia Mwema come close in quick attempt to respond, but could not finish their moves.

On top of first half, Mombasa Stars defender Mwaranjira dribbled past the center line and fired a 40-yard shot past Kisumu goalkeeper Stephen Otieno for home side’s equaliser.

Thus, the teams were level going to the break.

In second half, the home side piled more pressure on Kismu, but was the visitors who doubled their lead in 70th minute after Karamor’s clinical finish.

But Mombasa Stars had a quick response, as Kihara equalised just a minute later after connecting Brian Muraya’s cross.

Kihara grabbed his brace three minutes to stoppage time, capitalizing on Kisumu’s goalkeeper mistake to net the winner.

In another NSL match at the same venue, Mombasa Elite suffered a 2 - 1 loss in hands on Nairobi United.

Mombasa Elite got the opener in 28th minute froma spot kick, converted by Emmanuel Lunalo after Erick Kimanzi was fouled by Nairobi United goalkeeper Ernest Mohammed.

Charo Majaliwa almost equalised for the away team from a corner kick but was denied by Elite goalkeeper Solomon Musumba.

At the start of the second half, Nairobi United made three substitutions, introducing Benard Ouma, Brian Okinyi and Elson Wangamati to change their tactical approach.

Five minutes into second half, Henry Otieno equalised for Nairobi after an Elite defence mix up.

In 67th, Nairobi sealed their win after Mombasa Elite Midfielder Daniel Odhiambo scored in his own net, following a deflection from a free-kick by Elson Wangamati.
