NSL: Mombasa Stars out to turn the chapter as they welcome Patriots to a weekend clash
Mombasa-based
National Super League side Mombasa Stars are aiming to bag their first win in
20224 - 2025 season when they take on Dimba Patriots on Saturday at Serani
Grounds, Mombasa.
Stars
are winless in the five league matches they have played this season, only
registering a 1-1 draw against MOFA in Homabay two weeks ago.
Team manager
Ken Juma believes his charges have been unlucky in those matches, if their
display is considered and they hope to put their struggles in the backburner
when they entertain the Patriots.
"We
have talented young and experienced players and they have shown what they can
do and I believe it’s a matter of time and we will be back to our best,” he
said. "We want to win our first game this season, and we are preparing
well to rectify the mistakes we did at Ngong over the weekend against Samwest
Blackboots."
"I
believe in a week’s time we will be off the relegation zone as we now focus
more on our goals this season," Juma added.
Meanwhile
their neighbours Mombasa United will host struggling Nzoia Sugar aiming to keep their 100% home record intact.
United have
also lost all their away matches, last weekend they went down by a solitary goal
against Kibera Blacks Stars. However Coach Hamadi Said is confident his side
will give an electrifying performance for maximum points.
"We
are fully focused on our weekend game eyeing the 3 points, but I’m happy how
our new team is gelling up quickly and I’m sure we will get better day by day.”
Mombasa
United are currently in position 15 in the NSL log with six points.
