Nzoia Sugar FC's interim head coach, Peter Ginn, has attributed the team’s recent struggles in the National Super League (NSL) to a lack of experienced players following the departure of key squad members.

Speaking to Citizen Digital after a disappointing 4-0 defeat to MCF at the weekend, Ginn expressed concern over the club’s ongoing poor form, which has seen them go six matches without a win. The team currently sits 15th on the NSL table with 28 points from 25 matches.

“We’ve had to turn to young and untested players—many from local neighbourhoods and schools—because of the loss of our more seasoned talents,” said Ginn. “While the potential is there, it’s a steep learning curve at this level.”

Despite the setbacks, Ginn remains optimistic about their next fixture. Nzoia is set to host Luanda Villa this coming Sunday at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma County, a match the coach views as a potential turning point.

“We’re focused on bouncing back. The players are motivated, and we’re determined to give our fans something to cheer about,” he added.

With the relegation zone looming, a win against Luanda Villa could offer a much-needed morale boost and valuable points as the season enters its final stretch.

The Bungoma-based outfit has been grappling with grave financial constraints after its main sponsor, Nzoia Sugar Company Limited, withdrew its support for the club last year.
