Nondies edge KU as KCB dominate again in Kenya Cup
Kenya Cup champions KCB RFC produced another dominant display on Saturday as they hammered Mwamba RFC 50-3 at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, Nairobi.
Victory maintained their advantage at the summit of the Kenya Standings with second-placed Kabras Sugar crushing Menengai Oilers 38-9 to stay apace with the leaders.
Nondescripts RFC edged Kenyatta University 34-19 sparked by a superb opening half by Charles Odhiambo at the RFUEA Grounds.
Odhiambo scored two tries converted by Kanyiri Kariuki as Nondies led 12-0 at the interval. Benjamin Marshall would score a try for Nondies soon after the break with Kanyiri adding the extras.
Kanyiri added a penalty try before an unconverted try from Charles Omondi setting the scores in favour of Nondies.
Dennis Opiyo and Brian Kadenge each scoring a try for Blak Blad before Kevin Gathu added a penalty for a 34-19 scoreline
In another game played at the same venue Nakuru RFC handling error was the greatest undoing against a resilient Starthmore Leos side that went on to win 44-5.
Chipu talisman Andrew Matoka led the try-scoring with three and Bethwel Anami scored two with Gabriel Adero, Philomen Olang’, Richard Amedo and Shem Okal adding one each.
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology battled to a 17-17 draw against Kenya Harlequins at their backyard in a noon kickoff clash.
