Fourteen federations went to the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) challenging the eligibility of some delegates from a rival camp and were granted a temporary injunction delaying the vote.
The acting SDT chairperson Njeri Onyango directed the NOC-K AGM at Pride Inn Hotel will proceed minus the election agenda until the case is heard and determined.
“The entire election agenda slated for the AGM on 24th April 2025 is hereby put on hold pending further directions of the Tribunal. This order does not affect other items on the Agenda for the AGM.
“This matter shall be heard by inter-parties on the 24th of April 2025 at 9am before the Tribunal for further directions.”
The federations have petitioned against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and NOC-K seeking the interpretation and clarification of the NOC-K Constitution and the 2025 Elections Rules and Regulations.
The federations are Athletics Kenya, Kenya Fencing Federation, Kenya Table Tennis Association, Kenya Volleyball Federation, Kenya Handball Federation, Kenya Rowing & Canoe Federation, Kenya Triathlon Federation and Kenya Rugby Union.
Others are Kenya Baseball Federation, Kenya Taekwondo Federation, Kenya Judo Federation, Kenya Hockey Union, Softball Federation of Kenya and Kenya Cycling Federation.
NOC-K first vice president Shadrack Maluki and secretary general Francis Mutuku are the only candidates eyeing to take over from Paul Tergat who has served as the committee president for two terms of four years each.
