Maluki, accompanied by his newly elected Executive Board, Secretary General John Ogola, Treasurer Fred Chege, Deputy Treasurer Charles Mose, and Executive Member Major (Rtd) Suleiman Sumba, visited the team’s camp at Kasarani to offer encouragement and show solidarity ahead of their continental assignment.
The team, consisting of 20 athletes, will compete in six disciplines: athletics, cycling, boxing, wrestling, tennis, and judo.
Each sport will feature two representatives, one male and one female, under the leadership of Chef de Mission Paurvi Rawal.
The tournament is part of Kenya’s long-term strategy in building a strong foundation for the upcoming African Youth Games in Angola later this year and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar in 2026.
Addressing the athletes, Maluki shared personal reflections and motivated the young talents to aim high, reminding them of the discipline and pride that comes with wearing national colours.
“Represent Kenya with pride, discipline, and unity. You are the face of a rising generation, carry our flag with honour and let the continent feel your presence,” he said.
The African School Games are being held across four Algerian cities, Annaba, Constantine, Sétif, and Skikda, and are organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), with support from the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and the Algerian government.
The competition is aimed at promoting youth development, nurturing future stars, and reinforcing Olympic values across the continent.
As Kenya’s young athletes depart for Algeria, there is hope that their participation will not only bring medals but also ignite long-term sporting excellence from the grassroots level.
With full backing from the new NOC-K leadership, Team Kenya enters the Games with high expectations and national pride.
