Ndayiragije: Teamwork, leadership key to Police FC’s success
Police FC head coach Ndayiragije Etienne has attributed the team’s impressive performance in the FKF Premier League to strong support and coordination from the club’s board.
The law enforcers continued their stellar form on Wednesday with a dominant 3-0 victory over Bandari FC at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos. The win not only extended Bandari’s winless streak to seven matches but also propelled Police FC to the top of the league table, edging Tusker FC on goal difference.
“We have a very active and supportive board, from the chair to the CEO, working together with great teamwork, which has contributed to these good results,” said Etienne.
The former Burundi national team coach emphasized that the team remains focused on their ultimate goal of clinching their maiden league title, taking a game-by-game approach.
“We are taking each game very seriously, and with the boys improving each day and showing great discipline, I am hopeful we can achieve our goal,” he added.
Despite a shaky start to his tenure with a loss to AFC Leopards, Etienne has since turned things around for Police FC. The team has been on a consistent run, including a notable victory over defending champions Gor Mahia in December last year.
Police currently lead the league standings with 33 points, tied with Tusker FC but ahead on goal difference. KCB, Gor Mahia, and AFC Leopards round out the top five with 28, 27, and 25 points, respectively.
Up next for Police is a clash against Mara Sugar, followed by a highly anticipated February showdown with their title rivals, Tusker FC.
