NCPB eye East and Central African Handball Champs three-peat
The Kenya Handball Federation men’s league defending champions will be eying a three-peat this year after winning it last year on home soil and 2022 in Zanzibar.
Head coach Bryan Matthews believes they have all it takes to retain their title.
“We took our best team and we are ready to defend the title. Rwanda and Uganda have good teams but we are confident we will outwit them.”
“Home team will have an advantage of the eighth man, the fans, which will be a disadvantage to us but I know we will rise above the occasion,” noted Matthews.
The former Kenyan international says they have had adequate preparations and they will not take any chances against any opponent.
“Our preparations have been good. So far we have no injuries and the boys have also gelled well. We will treat every game as a final because every team is a threat.”
The cereals have been using part of the hand ball league matches as their preparations for the annual competition.
NCPB will rely on their solid defense to stop their opponents especially from Rwanda and Uganda who are a big threat to the local champions.
The ten-day competition will see top teams from the region in hunt for the coveted title.
