Nakuru down Mwamba in tight contest

Nakuru RFC faced off against Mwamba RFC in a highly
anticipated game held at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.
Nakuru RFC emerged victorious with a score of 32-27 in a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The game began with Nakuru RFC, also known as the ‘Wanyore,’ taking an early lead. Fredrik Odongo successfully executed a penalty just two minutes into the game after a dangerous play.
Mwamba RFC responded 16 minutes later with a drop kick from Brian Kahura, leveling the score at 3-3.
In the second quarter, both teams displayed impressive skills and intense action. Philip Okeyo scored two tries for the home team, both converted by Fredrik Odongo. The visitors managed to score their first try through Charles Kuka, with Ojiambo successfully converting it. At halftime, the score stood at 17-10 in favor of Nakuru RFC.
In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Mwamba RFC relentlessly pressed into their opponent's territory. Brian managed to break through and score a miraculous try, though the conversion attempt went wide.
Roxy Suchi then put the visitors ahead with a try, successfully converted by Ojiambo.
Philip Okeyo was on form once more, scoring his third try for the home team. Odongo added the extras, bringing the scoreboard to 25-22.
Both teams continued to score additional points, and the match ended with a score of 32-27 in favor of Nakuru RFC.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Ojwang’ Crescent, the Nakuru RFC back coach, expressed his satisfaction with his team's striking rate: "We've been conceding four tries per match, which is quite alarming. However, I can't take any credit away from the boys; they showed up and secured the five points. It means our striking rate is improving."
He praised senior players Oscar Ouma and Phillip Okeyo, who stood out in today's match and scored three tries. He added that their next game against Impala Saracens won't be easy, as it's crucial for their survival in the Kenya Cup.
Mark Mushila, who plays the role of head coach at Mwamba, mentioned that their last game will be a tough challenge. "Our next game is against Kenyatta University. I am not sure, but it's not going to be an easy match."
