Thunder face undefeated Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya while MBB of South Africa go up against home team APR of Rwanda at the BK Arena.
The Kenyans lost round one against the Libyan side 87-115, a new scoring record for the premier African club competition.
Thunder have had a rough start to life in the BAL’s Nile Conference with three losses in their first three matches that included a close buzzer time defeat to MBB (75-74).
Despite the sluggish start, head coach Brad Ibs has remained hopeful of getting three wins out of the remaining three matches to put the side in a position to fight for a place in the eight-team playoffs set for South Africa in June.
“We still want to win 3 games, we have 3 left and in addition to that we just want to keep getting better each and every game. I think if we continue to do that it puts us in a great position to win 3 games but that is still our goal to keep winning each game that we play.”
The team’s captain Tylor Ongwae said, “our mood is still good, we still think we can win these remaining games, but we just have to take it a quarter at a time and we are still confident.”
