Nairobi City Stars players' valuables, cash stolen in Kasarani

Nairobi City Stars players and coaching staff had their belongings pilfered in their dressing room on Sunday during their FKF Premier League clash against Gor Mahia FC, the club has announced.

Team officials and players noticed some of their items had been stolen from their bags after returning to the dressing room for half time, club chief Patrick Korir said.

The value of their loss has yet to be assessed but Korir said a total of Sh30,000 in cash money belonging to one of the players was also stolen. Police were in the area to provide security during the incident.

Items in the away dressing room, which was being manned by Gor stewards, remained intact.

Korir criticised the act which appeared to affect his players as they conceded two quick goals in the second half to lose 3-2 despite Gor playing with only 10 men for the final 20 minutes following goalkeeper Gad Matthews’ sending off.

“When we went for half time we realized that our bags had been tampered with, and when the players and technical bench checked their belongings they were unable to find mobile phones and some money,” Korir said.

The matter has since been reported at Kasarani police post.
