KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala wants his charges not to be carried away by their FKF Cup triumph against Kakamega Homeboyz and instead shift their focus to the next challenge against Kariobangi Sharks on May 26 at Dandora Stadium.

Dan Namasaka’s second half goal was enough for the Bankers to see off the reigning champions in last weekend’s Cup quarter finals at Dandora Stadium, but Mwalala’s sights are firmly set on Sharks’ scalp and not title yet.

“We took a leap towards the title following the win against the defending champions but the biggest challenge lies ahead. I don’t want to think about the title and continental football yet we’ve not even qualified for the final.”

“Our focus is solely on Kariobangi Sharks and I know it will be a tricky match. They are really good in almost all the departments but we will be ready to do our part and then wait for the outcome of the other semi-final and from there we can start thinking about the final and title,” he told Citizen Digital.

Winner of the FKF Cup automatically gets the nod to represent the country in CAF Confederation Cup competition the following season.

Mwalala, who won the Cup with Bandari in 2019, however believes he can emulate his past heroics and lift the gong this year.

“You can't be thinking about continental championship yet you haven't played the final. However, the ambitions are there and everyone wants to play continental football. The boys are charged up and we believe it's possible to get there,” he added.

In the other last four tie, high-flying Police FC will face AFC Leopards on May 26 at Dandora Stadium.

Police thrashed Sofapaka 4-0 in the quarter finals to send a huge statement of intent while Ingwe hit unheralded Compel FC 3-1.
