Mutai: Shujaa aiming a top-8 finish in World Series

Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Chairman Sasha Mutai says the national sevens team Shujaa are targeting to finish in the top eight in this year’s World Sevens Series .

Shujaa are making their return to the series after being relegated a season and Mutai said finishing in the top eight will be a realistic target for the team.

For him, a good start in the forthcoming Dubai Sevens will be important for the team, returning to the league of best.

“It is good to be back in the series we want to go back and be very competitive our target is to finish in the top eight because we have to be realistic with that and I am sure we have what it takes to achieve it,” said Mutai

Shujaa begin their campaign in Dubai later this month then head to Cape Town a week later, and the Chairman has challenged them to and announce their presence back in the series in style.

“We want to begin on a high in Dubai and Cape Town the team is preparing well and they players are looking forward to make a statement with their return which I believe they will,” added Mutai

Kenya has been pooled alongside South Africa, France and Australia .

“It is a tough pool and I know our team has the quality to fight for the pride of the country. All they need is to believe."
