Mururi wants Nzoia to sign out FKF-PL in style

Nzoia FC head coach Mike Mururi wants to end the 2024 FKF-PL campaign in style by defeating Sofapaka FC, as they bid goodbye the top league to the National Super League.

It will be a crucial match for Sofapaka too, who will be out to win and hope Shabana FC lose to Murung’a SEAL in another season finale as a path to remain in the topflight.

Nzoia who are already relegated, sit bottom of the 18-team league with 22 points, nine behind 17 placed Muhoroni Youth and 11 behind Sofapaka.

Despite the sorry performance this season which confirmed their axing from the Premier League a couple of weeks ago, Mururi has rallied his boys to end on a high note at the Kenyatta Stadium - Machakos on Sunday.

 “We want to finish in a respectable fashion, and that will be only by defeating Sofapaka. I noted that in our last match against Muhoroni Youth there were so many mistakes, more so from my defenders who allowed a big number of goals. We are however alert this time round, we want to win the last match of the season,” explained Mururi.

Nzoia suffered a 6-0 loss in the hands of Muhoroni in mid-week.

He is already looking forward to next season in the National Super League (NSL), and he believes the last match in the Premier League should be a signal of their intention.

“Our aim next season is to star in the NSL and earn promotion back to the Premier League. We want to ensure we win our first leg matches so that we make our work easy in the second leg to easy our way back to the league,” Mururi averred. 

Other fixtures on Sunday will see Bidco United take on champions Gor Mahia, Muhoroni versus Posta Rangers, KCB FC tackling Nairobi City Stars while Ulinzi will lock horns with AFC Leopards.
