Murkomen apologizes for his flashy lifestyle as he welcomes nomination as Sports CS

Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen has welcomed his appointment by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.

Murkomen took to social media to thank President Ruto for “this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation, Kenya.”

In a message on X, Murkomen said he has been reflecting on several matters since the president dissolved the entire cabinet, including him as Transport and Roads CS.

He also apologized to Kenyans for his conduct and his perceived opulence and flashy lifestyle in public.

“The last two weeks have been moments of deep reflection. I would like to unreservedly apologize to every Kenyan who I may have offended through my words, my deeds and my conduct, including my lifestyle, in the last two years of my public service,” he said.

This follows criticism by the Gen Z who accused some public servants of wasting public resources and opulence, and demanded accountability.

Murkomen said he is ready to serve diligently and with great accountability, if approved by the National Assembly.

“Subject to my approval by Parliament, I pledge to serve the people of Kenya diligently, with great humility and unwavering accountability.”
