Mountain Trail Series participants cover three counties in day three

This is a new five-day event initiative that is set to culminate with the Barngetuny Mountain Run in Nandi County on Saturday.

The captivating landscapes, vibrant culture, and commitment to sustainability will see enthusiasts traverse and enjoy the adventures through Laikipia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, and Nandi counties, where the tour will culminate with a series of events on Saturday.

As hikers were taking rest today to prepare for Friday’s course, the cyclists covered 35 kilometres through Kabarnet to Kerio Valley.

The 35 kilometre culminated at the Cheploch Gorge famous for the daredevil divers and stunning geology.

After that the Baringo handed over to Elgeyo Marakwet County team where they witnessed Fluorspar Mines and a short stop group photo moment at the Kimwarer river.

It then departed for an ascend through the longest winding road in Kenya to Nyaru viewpoint where Uasin Gishu County team joined the rest as they proceeded to Ainapkoi.

And then the last major stop for the day at Timboroa Railway station for an historic exhibition which has been prepared and mounted by the Kenya Railway Museum team.

It then traversed through Taptengelei village enroute to Tinderet in Nandi County.

Athletics Kenya (AK) Nandi Bargetuny Mountain Run is on the verge of making history as the first African competition to be upgraded and included in the prestigious World Mountain Running Series (WMRS), People Sport has exclusively established.

AK Nandi County and Central Rift executive Peter Sang disclosed plans to elevate the AK Nandi Bargetuny Mountain Run to world status.

The announcement followed an inspection tour of the event’s site and route in Tinderet Constituency by a local team from AK Tinderet, accompanied by Chemelil Sugar Company managers Margaret Ngetich Magare and Victor Kibet Chirchir, whose company will field athletes in the event scheduled for this Saturday.

In addition to the ongoing Heritage Trails Expedition and Barngetuny Run, the Magical Kenya Mountain and Trail Series will feature other major events throughout the year.

These include the Nyamira Great Run Edition in May, Mt. Kenya Mountain Run Edition in June, Aberdare’s Trail Run Edition in August, Mt. Longonot Edition in November, and the Mt. Elgon Run in December.
