Just a week after breaking the national 400m record, Mary Moraa smashed the meeting record at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday evening when she ran 1:56.85.

The in-form Moraa beat former world champion Halimah Nakaayi who finished second in 1:57.78 with Natoya Goule-Toppin of Jamaica closing the podium in 1:57.90.

The Commonwealth champion has now set her eyes on the Monaco Diamond League as she steps up her preparations towards the World Championships slated for next month in Hungary.

"I am so satisfied with the race and the win. I controlled the race from the front. It is a good habit of mine. My aim was to go in front from the starting point and it worked.

"I really wanted a PB which did not work, but it was still a good improvement. I thank God for everything. At the World Championships I want to finish on the podium. I will run the 400m in Monaco and then go home to Kenya to train," Moraa said.

Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen continued his dominance over the 1500m race when he clocked a world lead and new personal best of 3:27.14.

Kenyan duo of Abel Kipsang (3:29.11) and Reynold Cheruiyot (3:30.30) also notched new personal bests as they finished second and third respectively.

National 5000m champion Lilian Kasait came home second in the women's 3000m after clocking 8:27.80 behind Ethiopia's Hailu Freyweni who triumphed in 8:26.61.

South Africa's Akani Simbine inflicted the reigning world champion Fred Kerley his first defeat of the season over the 100m race.

Simbine clocked 9.97 ahead of Kerley who finished second in 9.98
