Moment of truth as SC Pirates host Menengai Oilers

Their mission is clear: win with a bonus point against Menengai Oilers and hope other results swing in their favor.
It has been a tough initiation into Kenya’s top-flight rugby for the Diani-based side. Their only victories came against Strathmore Leos (15-8) and Nakuru RFC (17-0), both at home. But with relegation looming, Pirates have no choice but to throw everything into this final battle.
Standing in their way is an Oilers side still reeling from two consecutive losses to title contenders KCB (29-27) and Kabras (20-14). Despite those setbacks, Oilers remain firmly in third place with 43 points and will be eager to finish the regular season on a high before shifting focus to the playoffs.
Pirates head coach Kevin Amiani, speaking to Citizen Digital, acknowledged the enormity of the task ahead:
"This is our biggest game of the season. We know what is at stake, and the boys are ready to fight for our survival. We respect Oilers, but this is about us proving that we belong in the Kenya Cup."
"The boys know the assignment ahead, and they are ready for this life-saving battle," he voiced.
The hosts will rely on home advantage and a passionate Diani crowd to fuel their last stand. But against a battle-hardened Oilers outfit, they will need more than just determination, they will need to be clinical, disciplined, and relentless.
Other teams facing the dreaded axe are Strathmore Leos, Kisumu RFC, and Mwamba. Strathmore is 9th on the log with 13 points, tied with Kisumu, while Mwamba is 11th after collecting 12 points.
For the Pirates, it is a moment of truth. Will they script a great escape, or will their Kenya Cup journey end with heartbreak this Saturday at the famous Esdadio de Seacrest?
