National Super League (NSL) side Mombasa United head
coach Hamadi Said has called on his players to maintain the positive momentum
from their successful January fixtures as they prepare for a busy February
schedule.
The team played five matches in January, securing two
wins, two draws, and one loss, which came at the hands of MCF FC at home.
In their most recent match, the Mombasa-based side
clinched a 2-0 victory over the experienced MOFA at Serani Sports Club,
finishing the first leg of the season on a high note despite a tough start.
Wilberforce Lugogo, a former Bandari FC and Murang'a
Seal attacking midfielder scored both goals, helping his team dominate the
Homabay County-based club.
Coach Said praised his team's tactical approach,
stating, "MOFA came with a solid plan, using long balls and power play,
but we had to step up, defend well, and take our chances. We played well, and
we fully deserved the win."
Looking ahead to February, Said emphasized the
importance of continuing their good form: "We are gearing up for our
February fixtures, and I can confirm that we’re in good shape to tackle the
four matches ahead and achieve strong results."
He also urged fans to continue supporting the team:
"I encourage our fans to keep showing up and pushing us to succeed. They
are our 12th player."
Meanwhile, Mombasa Stars are struggling with a
three-match winless streak and are currently fourth from the bottom of the NSL
table with 17 points.
Stars will face second-placed APS Bomet at Serani
Sports Ground, while Mombasa United is awaiting confirmation on their upcoming
match against Dimba Patriots, pending the resolution of the ongoing court case.
