Despite having a young squad at the National Super League, Mombasa United have quickly announced themselves as serious contenders, displaying impressive form and relentless competitiveness. According to Anza Fresh, the club is already punching above its weight—and the best is yet to come.
With the January transfer window approaching, the Coastal outfit is preparing a major squad overhaul, targeting nine experienced signings to boost their title charge.
“We’ve assessed interested players and drawn up a strong list. Mid-season signings are always tricky, but we are confident these additions will give us a team capable of winning the league,” said Anza Fresh.
Promotion would mark a historic milestone for the club, making Mombasa United only the second team from the Coast, after Bandari FC, to feature in the KPL.
However, the chairman admits that away matches remain the team’s biggest hurdle. The club has now set clear standards to improve performances on the road.
“Once we start getting results away, our home form will guarantee maximum points. Then we’ll truly be on course,” he noted.
Anza Fresh also rallied fans to flood stadiums and act as the team’s ''12th man” as the promotion race heats up.
Mombasa United return to action tomorrow at Mbaraki Stadium, hosting Gucha FC in their final NSL fixture before the Christmas break. Head coach Gilbert Selebwa emphasized the importance of securing all three points.
“A win could place us second or third before the holidays. That would be huge momentum going forward,” said Selebwa.
Currently sitting second on the NSL table with 25 points, Mombasa United trail leaders Migori Youth by just four points—firmly in the hunt and dreaming big.
