Moi Airbase retain KDF Taekwondo Championship title

Moi Airbase on Thursday retained their Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Taekwondo Championship title after reigning supreme in the four-day event held at Moi Air Base in Nairobi.

The championship brought together 16 teams from all formations, bases and units in the KDF and aimed at selecting players for Ulinzi Taekwondo team, enhancing cohesion as well as promoting esprit-de-corps amongst service personnel.

Senior Private Swabri Anwar from the 27 Mechanised Infantry Battalion (MIB), who secured silver Medal in the Fin category, expressed his optimism about the future.

“The tournament has been beneficial to us; we prepared and practiced well. It has also emphasized the need for discipline. I hope to use my talent and represent our country in other big international events,” Anwar said.

Private Faith Angor, a debutant from the 86 Armoured Recce Battalion (ARB), clinched top honours in the Fin Category and was equally thrilled with her performance.

“This is my first time I’m participating in such a tournament. I’m really excited about my performance. The tournament has been good, and I'm grateful for the experience.”

In addition to Moi Airbase's triumph, the Construction Engineers Brigade emerged as the first runners-up, while the Armoured Brigade secured the second runners-up position.
